the ascap/bmi tracking system we do at kuci is shotty at best. they pick *3 days* (or so) out of the year (i think thats all..) and collect the play lists. id be willing to bet that folks hearing the stuff on the radio, even if they tape it, bring in more money to the artists by buying the releases because they were exposed to them. hell, id bet the sites that have been banned generated more money through exposure/record sales than bmi. but thats just my guess. OH. i have never taken a track from a website, but i have bought shit used, copied stuff and played tracks on the radio. i personally dont see much of a difference, *especially* if no money is being exchanged (though in the case of used items...) chris.
